Conclusion

Although the CEP has come to an end, the project with Guild software will continue. I intend to keep working with this until I'm satisfied that I've offered all that I can. Although my sound effects are currently in the game, my music has not been added yet, but John says that he likes what I've made for him and the possibility of it being included still exists. I may also include future compositions for this project in my composition portfolio at the end of the year.

This is my first piece of real experience working in the games industry, and I feel like it's been a good foot in the door for future projects. I can now write on my CV that I've composed for Vendetta Online, and needn't say that I did it for free. Also using the new skills i've acquired with dreamweaver, I can get work as a web designer. My main objective for now however is to include my work for Vendetta-Online in my online portfolio in order to get a contract with a games company.

Also, having this music included in my portfolio shows versatility on my part as a composer. I've never written ambient music before this, and when you compare it to some of the tracks I wrote for the No Input Sampling EP you see quite a contrast.

I find that mostly, remote work (ie via online communication) should be avoided whenever possible. Your time can be spent far more productively when you're on location and communicating face to face with your employer. The only way you can really make remote work succeed, is either by totally hitting the nail on the head in terms of creating appropriate work, or having an employer who only has vague requirements as to what they're after.

I feel like I've learnt a lot in the area of remote work and games composing. I also feel much more ready to create a mod for a game, that could potentially get me into the industry. I have a friend in Taunton who is interested in collaborating with me on this, and I've been drawing up ideas for a few months.

Overall, the experience has been extremely valuable to me as both a composer and a digital artist. For the purpose of the CEP, I also feel that I've fulfilled my objectives and I'm much closer to reaching my goals as a games developer.
